Our Fabulous Teachers and Gurus

1:1 Teachers

Tali Lowe – 1:1 Private Yoga Teacher and Health Coach

Mondays, and Wednesday-Fridays

I have been teaching yoga since 2015, and started health coaching about a year later.  Yoga has truly changed my life and transformed my mental and physical health.  I now facilitate and empower others to start their own yoga and wellness journey too.

In my yoga teachings, I primarily work with individuals on a 1:1 or 2:1 (private or semi-private) basis these days, as I love the potent and therapeutic elements that this work has to offer.  I teach a variety of styles of yoga, including Restorative, Yin and Vinyasa Flow, and cater each private session to suit your needs.  I teach in a safe and supportive way, focusing on the alignment that feels right for your body and including challenging work to help you grow as well.

I take a similar approach in my health coaching work too, and provide a safe environment for you to dig deep and challenge your mindset and behaviours.  I take a lot of inspiration from the Intuitive Eating movement – so if you are fed up of yo-yo dieting and want to live a life that isn’t dictated by the number on the scales, get in touch.  I am here to help you fall in love with yourself again.

Rhona MacLean – Gyrotonics Teacher

Clinic Hours: Sunday – Friday
Sun-Thurs 8am-8pm by appointment only
Gyrokenesis Class Monday   13.00 – 14.00

Rhona Maclean is the founder of Edinburgh Body Tonic and a certified GYROTONIC ® instructor. Originally from the Highlands of Scotland, Rhona is a trained ballet dancer who studied at Ballet West and graduated in 2001. She went on to have an international career as a professional dancer before falling ill with the rare neuromuscular illness myasthenia gravis and autoimmune Graves Disease, which left her unable to continue her dancing career.

Rhona became interested in the Gyrotonic method of exercise and began having sessions herself. She’s very aware of the positive effect the Gyrotonic method has on her health and now uses it as remedial tool to maintain her excellent health and general fitness.

Rhona was so enthusiastic about the amazing benefits she found from Gyrotonic exercise that she trained as an instructor in New York and San Francisco. She has previous experience teaching in other studios and is now delighted to be opening Edinburgh Body Tonic.

As a former ballet dancer, Rhona has an in-depth understanding of the body and is perfectly placed to craft Gyrotonic sessions to help clients get exactly what they want from their sessions. She’s absolutely passionate about the remarkable benefits of the Gyrotonic system for those of all backgrounds, abilities and needs.

Rhona very much looks forward to welcoming you to her peaceful, private studio.

Kat Aydin – Yoga Class Teacher and 1:1 Private Yoga Teacher

I am a qualified Yoga teacher with over 500 hours of training in different styles. I currently teach Vinyasa Flow, Gentle Yoga, Yin, Restorative, Prenatal Yoga and Yoga for Absolute Beginners. I have an extensive background in various dance styles having run a successful dance studio for 15 years. Incorporating Yoga practice into our classes helped my dancers improve their flexibility and reduce the pain caused by intense dance competitions. After witnessing the results, I fell in love with the therapeutic powers of Yoga and its non-aggressive ways in which it can help anybody, on any level.

As a founder of Pay it Forward Scotland, I collaborate with many local charities and together with my amazing yoga community I organise fundraising events around Edinburgh. I was teaching Restorative Yoga to cancer patients at Maggie’s Centre Edinburgh for over two years, and a Women-only Yoga class at Edinburgh Women’s Aid for women who are at risk of domestic abuse. I am currently teaching Yoga at Teenage and Young Adult Cancer Unit at Western General Hospital.

Maggie McGeever – Yoga Class Teacher

Wednesday Class

Maggie is a yoga teacher & life coach who believes in large-hearted living. She has always loved to move, dancing a lot as a kid and teen before first starting to practice yoga at University just under 20 years ago.

In 2006 she qualified as a personal performance coach, and in 2014 qualified as a yoga teacher, gaining her 200 RYT from Classical Yoga School. Since then she has completed further study with various teachers in particular Elena Brower & Clare Gates-Sjöblom with whom she is currently completing a further 200 hour Chi Therapeutics training.

Maggie is passionate about yoga being available to many, not just the privileged few. She sees it as a route through which we all have the capacity to not only improve our physical health, but to find crucial moments of stillness and brighten our inner light. In classes there is a strong focus on self-compassion and the power of our breath, as well as an encouragement to enhance the way we view ourselves and the world around us. Through focusing on these elements, she hopes the benefits of yoga will extend beyond the individual in class to create a positive influence on the wider world.

Rosina Weightman – Yoga Class Teacher

Thursday Class

I have been practicing Iyengar Yoga for over 30 years. I teach yoga because I want to share these benefits with others and because it provides me with a constant challenge to marry this amazing eastern philosophy with my own very Scottish (dour/cynical) background. In the early years I practiced yoga to cure sciatica. It worked! It was difficult to find the discipline for regular practice, but whenever I missed a few classes the pain would return. So this very mixed blessing got me started. Soon I started to explore the wider mind, body and soul aspects of yoga incorporating regular meditation and pranayama into my practice. I have taken numerous courses and retreats over the years to develop my knowledge and skills around yoga including the SYA Foundation course and Yoga Teacher Training at the Santhi Institute in Kerala, India (IYA). I look forward to meeting and teaching you.

Maggie Rouxel – Yoga Class Teacher

Friday Class

Maggie has been teaching yoga since 2004 and is qualified to teach therapeutic yoga, which aims to protect bone density, build muscle strength, improve posture and increase flexibility and stability. Classes might work on specific aspects such as chest opening or on health concerns such as back pain or shoulder issues. Maggie previously worked for a large corporate and found her yoga practice very beneficial for her health. She also believes yoga is a good complement to all sports. Her classes, which include breathing exercises and relaxation as well as asanas (postures), accommodate different levels and amounts of yoga experience in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

Fay Denwood – Yoga Class Teacher

Monday & Sunday Class

Fay has been practicing yoga for 8 years with it increasingly becoming more of a part of her daily life until taking 200 hours teacher training and beginning teaching this year (2018).

With a background in dance, Fay enjoys fluid and dynamic practices that really assist in opening the body and these are the kind of classes you can expect to find her teaching, hopefully with a bit of fun along the way. Fay has also worked in healthcare for over 10 years, and in combining these two areas of knowledge, Fay has a good understanding of the physical body and how yoga and meditation can improve overall health and peace of the mind. Off the mat, she can usually be found out and about stargazing and connecting with mother nature.

Allanah Langstaff – Yoga Class Teacher

Saturday Class

I’m Allanah, the founder of Rogue Yoga and I have been practicing yoga for over 7 years and am a RYT200 Yin Yoga Teacher having trained with Chi Therapeutics in Edinburgh.

Yin yoga for me is the perfect antidote to a busy, active lifestyle and career in television production. It’s like giving yourself a full body massage and my shoulders are always much more level after a class. My classes are ideal for everyone, whether it’s your first session on the mat or if you are a seasoned yogi looking to slow down and find your stillness

Rogue Yoga was founded to create a carefree space to practice yoga. Here you won’t be judged if you can’t touch your toes, like to snap an Instagram pic of your toes on the mat at the start of class or even decide to spend the majority of class in Savasana. What happens in Rogue Yoga stays in Rogue Yoga. All I ask is that you treat your body and yourself with kindness.

We live in a busy complex world, so for 60 minutes at a time shrug off the outside world and melt onto the mat.
